Concrete Vs. Asphalt Driveways: When Can They Get Wet?

The ability of a new driveway to get wet depends on the materials used and weather conditions. After concrete is poured, it needs around 48 hours to cure, during which time it should remain dry. Asphalt driveways, on the other hand, can withstand moisture sooner, but it’s still recommended to wait at least 24 hours before allowing exposure to water. If the driveway is exposed to rain or other moisture before it has sufficiently cured, it can weaken the material and reduce its lifespan.
